project beam + trunnel
location: guelph/eramosa, ON
Project Beam and Trunnel incorporates traditional stone masonry paired with timber framing. All of the timbers were reclaimed from a fortune cookie factory located downtown Toronto on Dupont St. The timbers were procured by Elements and carefully selected for this project. Each nail and threaded rod was hand pulled from the timbers which were then re sawn to suit Beam and Trunnel’s needs. The mantle, shelves, countertops and wine rack are all cut from these ancient Douglas fir beams. Carefully quarter sawn and joined by our artisans to fit. The copper and honey tones pair with the Guelph Buff limestone accenting the rusty sedimentary layers. Our clients grew up in the downtown core of Guelph, Ontario and wanted to be reminded of their “hometown” while enjoying their favourite glass of wine by the cozy fire. Timeless materials are paired with non threatening white shiplap and cabinetry as to not distract from the natural beauty of the stone and timbers. We introduce project Beam and Tunnel.
